15 DAY POLICY & SAFEGUARDING OUR BOARDERS: We do not allow any boarders to stay in our main boarding area if they have had recent vet visits for any reason. This limits exposure/the possibility of picking up a virus, then ’sharing’ with the rest of the boarders, some of which are seniors or on immune-supressive medications. We know that optimally every exam room room would be fully sanitized after a patient with respiratory virus is seen. We also know that sometimes mistakes occur. For this reason we err on the side of caution for the health of all our boarders, as virus can rip through a kennel with lightening speed.
Sometimes this policy isn't possible to adhere to due to a recent illness such as a UTI or other on-going treatments. For this reason we have limited units when necessary and available. These suites are in a segregated area away from the main kennel and are at a premium rate.
WE REQUIRE UTD RABIES & DISTEMPER vaccinations:
Rabies is pretty self explanatory - however - we do get many questions in regard to distemper(FVRCP). Below is an explanation on why it is so important & why we take our policy so seriously:
An infected cat will shed contagious particles and susceptible cats can contract an infection by environmental exposure to air contaminated with secretions. Some virus survive up to ten days outside the hosts body.
Cats exhibiting signs of respiratory illness (runny eyes, nose, sneezing)
will not be permitted entry without a vet's written explanation of health issues (dental, asthma) For obvious reasons we can not expose our guests to infections.
FLEA POLICY: All guests will be checked upon arrival. Should they be accompanied by ’stow-aways’ they will be treated with Capstar & Advantage II. A $75.00 PENALTY FEE per cat will apply. We pride ourselves on a flea free facility and can not expose other guests to infestation. For this reason, any toys from home must be new in unopened packaging.
